RE: Anybody like the new Road King Custom?

Thanks Gringo. I have a vacation topic too: Has anyone taken their laptop on a long ride and put it in the saddle bags? Do you think all the heat from the pipes could hurt a laptop? I'm thinking like a 5 to 8 hour run before stopping for the day. (Potty breaks throughout the day of course). LionFan, I traveled 12 hours with my laptop in the saddle bag and had no problems. Although, each lap top is different. Depending on the room in the saddle bag you could put something in side the saddle bag to protect the lap top. Good luck and enjoy the ride. HH

RE: Anybody like the new Road King Custom?

Congrats, Double H! That's an awesome accomplishment. Send him a thumbs up from the whole FOTK group! Just spent the night making fairing mounts out 1-1/4" flat iron for my friend's '80 BMW GS. It's the first scoot wrenching of any kind I've done in over a year. Funny how something like that just makes you feel alive... Greenman. Greenman, I pass on the thumbs up. I know what you mean about the wrenching. I really had not done any to my bike until I ran across this forum. I've done a lot since joining the group. It gives me great pleasure knowing I'm the one who did the work. I've worked on Helicopters and flew helicopters for many years so the work wasn't the problem it was just believing I could do it again. HH

RE: Anybody like the new Road King Custom?

Gringo, I'm not sure if you have ever done the fly and ride with HOG. If you haven't you should give it a try. I did it last Oct and it was fantastic. Two day minimum but it was almost cheaper than one day through dealer. I believe it was $100.00 a day. That included tax and insurance. I'm looiing forward to meeting you if you get to the North Alabama area. HH

Some of the main roads have been swept around here, may go for a short putt if it hits 50 today on my SUNGLOW BLUE RKC. How quickly some turn, ha. Kidding HH hope you enjoy Big Red. HAGD http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g245/tokheim69/RKK3.jpg Seeing you Sunglo Blue does make me miss mine. I will say that the UC ride is fantastic. RE: Anybody like the new Road King Custom?

HH Be carefull there, next thing you know. You will be trading the UC in on a 4 wheel convertible. And giving in to the red so easily,, go blue Still cold and snow here. Neighbor got a used bike and has been out a few times. Next month till I think about it. Don't worry I'm not giving in to any 4 wheel options. I do miss Big Blue but this Red is great looking too. HH

I must have lost my mind. I traded the Road King Custom in on an 08 Ultra Classic. I've changed colors.....Its the Candy Red Sunglo GO RED! I pick it up tomorrow. I'm a little excited and the wife is just as excited that's what makes it great. More road trips in the future. I hope everyone is having a great weekend. It's raining here in North Alabama. Should be a better day tomorrow. HH

Gringo, that is one hellava photo. Very nice. Do you do enlargements to hang up, like a painting? Payloader - Thank you!! Yes I do sell them. I sell a lot of photos, and the lighthouse is among my top sellers ( a balloon pic is also popular). They are available in many sizes. See my web site rsphotogallery.com for examples (and don't buy from there. If you want a copy of one just PM me here):D I recommend everyone going to Gringo's web site. I believe everyone of the pictures is fantastic. Gringo I did know you were so talented. Congratulations! HH

RE: Anybody like the new Road King Custom?

G'day from Australia..I bought my RKC in december 06 and have done 16,000 km so far including a ride of 8000km last xmas and i love it! I hated the standard bars and put genuine Harley STREET SLAMMERS on they work fine for me, also put sundowner touring seat with both backrests which are left off around town, tinted medium screen, braided brake lines,pc111,k&n filter,true-track,2"extended forks for a bit more ground clearance, and tailgunner rotary cannon cans with true duel headers and i get heaps of great comments about my bike and 1 last thing its sunglo colour looks great with the black and chrome especially when the tinted screen is on,its my first Harley and i'll never regret buying it RKC's are a class ride. Congratulations. I know you will love your bike. HH

RE: Anybody like the new Road King Custom?

Hey guys -- back in July of 2007 I asked this question here in the thread: Question for you guys - Harley has introduced anti-lock brakes on the Touring models for 2008 - optional on most touring models, standard on the SEs. Does anyone know if the optional ABS can be put on a 2004 RKC? According to the Harley website, it is not visible at all... it is something I am seriously interested in, even if it is not chrome! I got an email from the managing editor of American Rider magazine, our sponsor here, that they are going to publish the question: Hey Richard! Just wanted to let you know your ABS question will be published in the Ehlert online section of American Rider in the April 2008 issue! Hope Florida is treating you and your Harley well! Best Regards, Chelsea Adams Managing Editor, American Rider That's fun! :B Just goes to show you how they read our thread! THANK YOU CHELSEA! Gringo, that's great. Congratulations.....HH

The number is on the front page of forum. And you Helicopter Harley are post 12,000!!! I'm one lucky dog....since I don't see the post number. I guess when it automatically signs me in it goes directly to the posts and I don't see that page. I'm happy to be 12,000. HH
